Bruno settles for some time with the family of the grand master of percussion Doudou N'Diaye Rose. From then on, driven by the desire to apprehend and to deepen the musical traditions connected with the djembe, he travels non-stop through West Africa countries, the holders of the culture linked to this instrument: Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Gambia and so on.
In 1980 he begins an artistic co-operation with his sister Katina Genero, the first dancer and choreographer who has spread Afro dances in Northern Italy. Together they work out the style Rhythms and Afro Dances for a teaching method and the choreography.
Bruno Genero has collaborated with famous international choreographers in shows presented in Paris, Vienna, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stockholm, Berlin, besides the realization of videoclips with Teresa De Sio and Zucchero.
In May '99 he receives the greatest recognition of his artistic career:
on the occasion of the First International Biennal of Percussion, occurred in Conakry and promoted by the European Union and the Republic of Guinea, he is invited as the best non-African djembefolà and on this occasion he plays with the grand masters Fadouba Olaré (Guinea), Famoudou Konate (Guinea), Mamady Keita (Guinea) and Soungalo Koulibaly (Mali), becoming messenger of many Western musicians that for some time are immersed in the Mande culture of Western Africa.
Nowadays he has become a virtuoso of the djembe, which has become his musical language, and is appreciated in Europe and Africa for his style, his technique and his creativity.
He teaches percussion in Italy, France and Belgium, using rhythms and traditional techniques for personal research into the musical language. 3 April, 2000, at the Teatro Regio in Torino, Bruno Genero will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his musical career with the show Tam-Tam, in which some of the greatest exponents of African music will be gathered together to perform.
